Trace large pieces through the stairway
Measure the turn at the bottom of the basement stairs and identify items that may need to come apart. If you are also clearing an office or locker, say whether it is in the same building. Review separate addresses before the estimate so the pickup plan covers the whole shipment.
Tools for your Ohio move
Review estimate factors, measure your inventory, and prepare parking and building paperwork.
Your moving estimate, protection and payment
A move entirely within Ohio and a move to another state can have different estimate, licensing and protection requirements.

Required insurance
Ohio requires $750,000 public-liability coverage for ordinary for-hire property carriage, reduced to $300,000 when the carrier exclusively uses vehicles rated below 10,001 pounds. Intrastate household-goods cargo minimums are $5,000 per vehicle and $10,000 for losses at one time or place. These filing limits are separate from your contractual damage protection.
PUCO identification and liability terms
Ohio’s in-state estimate identifies the carrier’s certificate number and its loss/damage reimbursement options. Any deductible needs a place for your initials. Check those terms rather than assuming the moving price includes full replacement protection.
Three estimate types
Ohio allows nonbinding, binding and guaranteed-not-to-exceed estimates. With the last type, you pay the lower of the agreed maximum and applicable tariff charges. Nonbinding final charges follow the tariff; the estimate should identify measurable billing units and services.
Added goods at pickup or delivery
For additional goods or requested services, the carrier may reaffirm the estimate or supply an addendum before loading/unloading those goods or performing the extra service. Once loaded without a new estimate, the original estimate is reaffirmed.
