A licensed interstate carrier, not a broker

Gorilla Haulers moves households across state lines under its own federal authority, U.S. DOT No. 3467429 and MC 1654219. Our DMV, New York/New Jersey, and Chicago operations support pickups throughout the East Coast and Midwest, including the southern East Coast. Whether you are leaving a rowhouse in Philadelphia, a family home in Maryland, or a house in Georgia, start with your origin and destination ZIP codes. We will review the route and availability with you.

  • Whole-house moves across state lines, from townhouses to large family homes
  • Inventory review and move planning
  • Furniture protection, loading, transportation, and unloading
  • Optional packing and storage coordinated with your move

From your pickup address to your new front door

A good moving plan starts with the details. Tell us about large furniture, fragile items, the garage and basement, flights of stairs, and where the truck can park at both addresses. Access affects how the crew can load and deliver your shipment. We discuss your requested pickup date and delivery arrangements before you book.

What affects the cost of a state-to-state move?

Your inventory, the route, pickup and delivery access, date, and requested services affect your estimate. Packing and storage should be discussed as part of the plan. We do not generate a price from ZIP codes alone: a useful estimate needs a clear picture of what you are moving.

  • A room-by-room inventory, including items in garages or storage units
  • The origin and destination ZIP codes
  • Driveway, street parking, stairs, or other truck-access restrictions
  • Packing needs and any gap between pickup and delivery

Packing and storage, part of the same conversation

Need help boxing up the kitchen or protecting fragile pieces? Ask about packing. If your new home is not ready when you leave, ask about storage arrangements and the later delivery. We will review the service scope, timing, and cost for your move.

A reputation you can check

How much does a long-distance move cost?

For pickups on the East Coast, from Massachusetts to Florida, our long-distance price is based on two things: the volume of your shipment in cubic feet and the state you are moving to. Each destination has a rate per cubic foot and a minimum, and a 13% fuel surcharge is added. For example, a 1,000 cubic foot shipment, about the size of a typical 2–3 bedroom home, moving to Florida is about $4,803 including fuel. A full inventory gives you an accurate number before you book.

Long-distance rates by destination

These rates apply to pickups in our East Coast service area, from Massachusetts to Florida. The rate depends on the state you are moving to, and a 13% fuel surcharge is added. Moves from the Midwest are priced individually.

  • At pickup, elevator, long-carry, and extra-stair charges are normally waived.

What our customers say

“When we started planning our move from Maryland to halfway across the country, we started to realize that a lot of moving companies bid on your move then contract it out to other companies. Gorilla Haulers does not do that. They showed up on moving day (even the owner, Wilson, personally showed up!) and took great care with everything, even helping us pack some of the items that we had not gotten to. They stored it for us until we were ready to move into our new place. Once we were ready, Wilson personally drove the moving truck out to our new home and took great care with each item. If I ever move again, I will be asking Gorilla Haulers to help me out, as they have proven to be very trustworthy.”

“Honestly, this moving company was such a breath of fresh air! I’ve worked with other movers before and had some pretty horrible experiences — things broken, bad communication, just overall stress. But this time around, I can truly say it was the total opposite. They went above and beyond for us — super flexible, friendly, and professional. They treated my mom (she’s a senior) with so much kindness and respect, which really stood out to me. Our move was no small thing either: Pennsylvania to California, right through a snowstorm, and our stuff was mostly glass — huge mirrors, glass tables, vases, you name it. They wrapped everything so carefully, loaded it all up, and delivered it early without breaking a single item! They didn’t just drop everything off and disappear, either. The team brought every box and piece of furniture right where we wanted it in the new house and were super respectful the whole time. They even followed up afterwards to make sure we were happy with everything, which I really appreciated. After all the nightmare moves I’ve had before, this was such a relief. I’d 100% recommend them to anyone who wants movers who actually care and do things right.”

“Wilson and team at Gorilla Haulers did an amazing job moving us from DC to North Carolina. They had us out of our apartment in 4 hours and fully moved into our house multiple states away the next day by 2 pm. All our stuff made it safely and securely, the team was incredibly efficient, professional and polite for a very reasonable price.”

★★★★★Flynn C. · DC → North Carolina · February 2025 · Google review

“Gorilla Haulers were amazing from Elijaht (Eli) took me time with me to ensure that every item i was moving was accounted for. He was honest and transparent with fees and that gave me comfort. I chose this team after getting 6 other quotes. Wilson who you will see on the Instagram commercial was the reason I booked the. He and his team were the BEST MOVERS I worked with. They came packed up my big furniture asked questions. When moving furniture is needs to be packed right they did just that! The team that dropped it off were fast and very helpful. Not one item missed. It was not cheap, it was Quality and that is whar you want! Wilson, thank you 😊”

“We used Gorilla Haulers for our move from Washington, DC to New York City and had a great experience from start to finish. The communication was clear, pricing was transparent, and everything was handled professionally. The crew arrived on time and took great care of our belongings, ensuring everything was safely packed and unloaded.”

“We have an absolutely amazing experience with our move from Maryland to Florida with Gorilla Haulers. They really went above and beyond to make sure our move went as smooth as possible. Pickup and drop off went very smooth and even when our items took more space then planned they made room and got all our stuff moved. While other movers said it could be 2-3 weeks to get our stuff they got our stuff to us in less than a week. They did an amazing job packing all our items with care and getting them to us in one piece. I highly recommend them for any long distance move, they made a very stressful experience go by smoothly. Thanks Wilson and Gorilla Haulers for all your help!”

Frequently asked questions

How much does a long-distance move cost?

For pickups on the East Coast, long-distance prices are based on the cubic feet of your shipment and the state you are moving to, plus a 13% fuel surcharge. Rates start at $4.25 per cubic foot to most East Coast states, including Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, New Jersey, and New York City, with a $1,480 minimum. For example, a 1,000 cubic foot shipment to Florida, about the size of a typical 2–3 bedroom home, is about $4,803 including fuel. The rate for every destination state is listed on this page.

Is state-to-state moving the same as interstate moving?

For a move from a home in one state to a home in another, yes. We use both terms to describe our core service. A long move within the same state is different; share your route so our team can identify the service you need.

Can I get a quote for a specific route?

Yes. Enter your pickup and destination ZIP codes in the quote form. For example, you can request a move from Maryland to Florida, New Jersey to Texas, Chicago to California, or Georgia to Ohio. Scheduling and service details are confirmed for your individual move.

How long does long-distance delivery take?

Our general delivery schedule is 2–10 business days for moves up to 750 miles, 2–14 business days for 751–1,500 miles, and 4–21 business days for 1,501–3,300 miles. Need a fixed delivery date? Ask about our Premium Guaranteed Service.

Is my long-distance estimate binding?

Yes. Your estimate is binding for the items and services listed on it. The price changes only if you add items, cubic feet, or services that are not on the estimate, and in that case a revised written estimate is prepared before any work is done.

How do I pay for a long-distance move?

You reserve your move with a deposit of up to 35% of your quote, by debit or credit card. The deposit is credited toward your total and is refundable until 72 hours before your original move date. On pickup day, 50% of the remaining balance is due by Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, cashier’s check, or postal money order, and we may collect up to 75% of the balance before your shipment leaves the pickup state. The rest is due at delivery, before unloading, by postal money order, Zelle, or cash. Credit card payments carry a 5% surcharge and must be approved by dispatch before booking.

What items cannot be moved?

For safety, we cannot move aerosol cans, ammunition, automotive chemicals, bleach, cleaning supplies, live plants, propane or butane tanks, gasoline, lighter fluid, matches, fireworks, nail polish remover, oxygen tanks, paint and paint thinners, perishable food, or other hazardous materials. Keep passports, deeds, financial and legal documents, jewelry, cash, coins, medications, and personal checks with you; these are not covered by the carrier or the insurer.

Does a long-distance move include free storage?

Eligible long-distance moves include 30 days of free storage if needed. Flat-rate moves with direct delivery do not include this offer. Tell us you need storage when requesting your estimate so eligibility and later delivery can be confirmed. This offer does not apply to local moves.
